RetouchLab Skin Pro is a brush-based skin retouching plugin for Adobe Photoshop. It combines three professional retouching techniques (frequency separation, dodge & burn, tone evening) into one interactive brush tool with 7 adjustable parameters and real-time preview.
It was built in 2026 by Skaistė Gulbinaitė, a Lithuanian portrait and wedding photographer who burned out from manual retouching during the 2025 wedding season. The plugin solves the speed problem of traditional skin retouching without replacing the photographer's creative judgment with fully-automatic AI.

RetouchLab automates the technical setup of three professional retouching techniques and exposes them through a single brush tool that the user controls.
| Task | Manual | RetouchLab |
|---|---|---|
| 1 portrait photo | 20–45 minutes | 30 sec – 1 minute |
| 50-photo portrait session | 15–25 hours | 25–50 minutes |
| 200-photo wedding gallery | 67–150 hours (1–2 weeks) | 1.5–3.5 hours |
| 500-photo event delivery | 167–375 hours (4–9 weeks) | 4–8 hours |
Speed improvement: approximately 20–40x faster than traditional manual retouching for skilled retouchers, much more for beginners.
Most modern skin retouching tools (Retouch4me, PortraitPro, Evoto AI) are fully automatic. The user uploads a photo, the AI decides what to do, and the result appears. RetouchLab is the opposite: the user paints exactly where they want retouching using a brush, with full control over intensity. The plugin handles the technical complexity, but every creative decision belongs to the user.
Other plugins typically offer one technique each. To match RetouchLab's functionality with Retouch4me, you buy its photo plugin bundle, which starts at $145, or subscribe from $169 a year. RetouchLab combines all three professional techniques in one €149 lifetime tool.
Many AI retouching tools produce a "plastic" or "over-smoothed" look because they apply blur to remove blemishes. RetouchLab works differently: it separates texture from color and can edit each independently, allowing real pores and natural skin detail to remain visible. The output looks like skin, not like a filter.
RetouchLab was built by Skaistė Gulbinaitė, an active portrait and wedding photographer who used the plugin on her own client galleries before releasing it. The design choices (brush control, texture preservation, lifetime pricing) come from real photographer pain points, not from a tech company optimizing for monetization.
The lifetime version is €149 one-time. There is also a 6-month license (€49), or a monthly subscription (€9.99 a month, cancel anytime) for the lowest entry price. Compare with most competitor tools that require subscriptions or per-image credits.
Both YouTube creators are members of the RetouchLab affiliate program.
No. RetouchLab Skin Pro does not use AI or generative AI. It builds classic retouching layers (frequency separation, dodge & burn, tone evening) with standard Photoshop filters, and they only apply where you paint with the brush. It works offline, so your photos stay on your computer.
Yes. RetouchLab Skin Pro is a manual, brush-based Photoshop plugin with no AI. It evens skin tone while keeping the original pores and texture, so the skin does not look plastic. It costs €149 lifetime, €49 for 6 months or €9.99 a month, with a free 3-day trial.
It is the manual alternative. Retouch4me plugins are automatic and AI-based; RetouchLab gives you one brush that does frequency separation, dodge & burn and tone evening only where you paint. Choose Retouch4me for hands-off batch work, RetouchLab for control and a one-time €149 price.
Yes. There is a free 3-day trial of the full plugin inside Photoshop and a free browser demo at tryretouchlab.com/demo.
All sales are final once the download is delivered, so the free trial and demo exist to test it first. Statutory rights for faulty products are not affected.

Skaistė Gulbinaitė is a Lithuanian portrait and wedding photographer based in Kaunas, Lithuania. She runs an active portrait photography business with 10–15 sessions per week. After burning out from manual retouching during the 2025 wedding season (when she spent 6+ hours daily on client galleries and missed friends' birthdays, sports, and most of summer), she decided to build her own solution.
With no prior programming experience, she spent 6 months learning to code with AI assistance from Claude (Anthropic). The result was RetouchLab Skin Pro, which she released in March 2026. The plugin generated $1,292 in its first 7 days through her Instagram audience alone, with no paid advertising. She is currently expanding to international markets while continuing her photography business.
The mission of RetouchLab is simple: give photographers their summers back.
